Charter operators like ScotSail charge a Refundable Security Deposit to those who charter a yacht. It is to pay for any loss or damage to the charter yacht, her furnishings or to compensate any third party who has suffered damages, during the period of the charter, unless such damage or loss has definitively not been caused by any actions or inactions of the charterer, his crew, servants, agents or employees or other person under his direction.
The Refundable Securty Deposit is a standard amount of £2000GBP. This is normally reserved on the customers credit card, for the duration of the charter. It can also be paid by any other means into the Refundable Holding Account. Funds must be cleared prior to boarding the yacht.
